The best housekeeping advice is to keep clutter picked up and put away daily. Each day, make your bed and tidy up the bedroom by putting dirty clothes away, hanging clothing up, putting things away, etc. Do the dishes after each meal and wipe down the counters. If you have a dishwasher, keep dishes rinsed and loaded up as you use them. Don’t wait until you have a sinkful.
Straighten up the living room each day. Fluff the pillows on the couch, put shoes, papers, books, etc. away.
Get some Clorox wipes or generic wipes to keep the bathroom sink and counter wiped down. Do it often. Wipe off the toilet seat and brush out the bowl often.
If you keep it done in little steps, you’ll find it easy to keep clean. There’s a website I really like. It’s www.flylady.com She’s got some great ideas.
Keep the cooking simple until you master a few techniques and recipes. Look for simple recipe cookbooks or recipes online. Learn the basics. Don’t try to be a gourmet cook, A La Julia Child, right away. Stick to simple, easy to fix, hearty meals. Learn to "dress up" boxed and prepared foods with a few homemade touches.
You’ll do just fine in your role as new housewife.
